Cardiologist Available at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital
November 12, 2018
Cardiology services are once again available full-time at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney with the addition of a new, full-time Cardiologist.
Dr. Raymond Fisher with the Carle Heart and Vascular Institute began his practice this month in the newly re-located Cardiology Clinic. The clinic is now on the second floor of Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in the same hall as Urology.
Dr. Fisher is making his home in Olney and looks forward to expanding access to care for people with heart conditions.
“I was very interested in this opportunity when I found out that this area did not currently have local access to cardiology services, and patients would need to drive an hour or more for an appointment,” noted Dr, Fisher.
With over thirty years of experience as a Cardiologist, Dr. Fisher provides a full range of services. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine (Diplomate – Cardiovascular Disease). In addition to clinic hours, Dr. Fisher provides consultations for hospital inpatients and Emergency Department patients. He also offers a variety of noninvasive procedures to diagnose heart conditions.
“I am particularly interested in Preventive Cardiology. It’s possible to assess a patient and intervene before they have a cardiac episode to prevent cardiac disease. I plan to work to raise awareness of cardiac risk factors and enhance education for my patients,” notes Dr. Fisher.
Dr. Fisher says he is excited about the opportunity to become a neighborhood referral service for the community and surrounding communities.
“I just want to be here to serve the community,” said Dr. Fisher, adding that he hopes one day this hospital can grow cardiac services to eventually become a regional referral source.
Dr. Fisher completed undergraduate studies (magna cum laude) in Honors Biology at University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana. He received his Medical Degree from Loyola University – Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. He subsequently completed Residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Internal Medicine at St. Francis Hospital, Evanston, Illinois, where he also attained his Fellowship in Cardiology. He has had several academic appointments and served on various committees during his career.
