Carle Richland Memorial Hospital Welcomes Certified Nurse Midwife
November 15, 2018
Carle Richland Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of a Certified Nurse Midwife to its Medical Staff.
Stephanie Gordon, CNM, is excited to bring her services to the community. She has been a nurse for the past nine years and a Certified Nurse Midwife since 2015. She has neonatal and maternity knowledge, performs women’s well checks including pap smears, prenatal care, post-partum care, and birth control, including IUD placement and management.
“I’m looking forward to meeting new patients and above all, being there for my patients. I travelled a lot previously with my other position and I felt I couldn’t always be there when I was needed. I’m looking forward to building relationships with the women I care for,” says Gordon.
Stephanie earned her Master’s in Nursing, Midwifery, from the University of Cincinnati, OH. She obtained her BSN in 2012 from McKendree University in Lebanon, IL and her RN from Rend Lake College in 2010.
She is a health and wellness advocate and is skilled in conducting well women exams as well as newborn exams.
“I think it is very important to build a relationship with my patients. Patients have to be comfortable with you and trust you to be able to open up to you about any issues they may be having,” notes Gordon. “I want my patients to know they can trust me to care for them as well as their baby.”
Stephanie and her family currently live in the Effingham area. She has two boys and she enjoys watching them play baseball. Her husband is a state trooper for this district.
Stephanie will be located at the Carle Richland Memorial Hospital Family Practice Clinic at SIHF, 1200 North East Street in Olney. She will begin seeing patients at that location on Monday, December 3. Call 618.392.2940 to make an appointment.
