Meet the CRMH AirLife Crew - Brandon Pastoral
July 01, 2019
If you are faced with an emergency situation that requires air ambulance transport, knowing that you are in the hands of a trained professional can make a stressful situation a little easier. Carle Richland Memorial Hospital is pleased to introduce the members of the Carle AirLife team to the communities we serve. These individuals will be stationed at the hospital and ready to respond at a moment’s notice to those emergencies that require a patient to be flown to a larger hospital for care. They will also act as an additional trauma team in the emergency department should there be a need.
Brandon Pastoral is another flight nurse for AirLife. Brandon has most recently worked in the Emergency Department at Carle for the past three years. He began his career on the cardiac unit of another hospital before taking the position at Carle. A graduate of the Nursing Program at Kankakee Community College, he furthered his education by earning his BSN from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. He is currently in the Master’s Program for nurse practitioners at Chamberlain University.
“I’m really looking forward to the chance to begin working with the community and helping to provide a strong foundation and good outcomes in critical situations,” says Pastoral.
While being a flight nurse is a very serious position, Brandon likes to keep things light in his personal life, joking that he chose his current position because “wife said med school was too expensive.” In all reality he wanted to have a career that would make both his wife and daughter proud.
“I wanted to do something that would challenge me and would make a difference to the people I treat. I want my daughter to grow up thinking the sky is the limit.”
In his spare time, Brandon enjoys spending time with his wife, Victoria, and daughter, Harper. In his free time he also likes playing music and working out.
The AirLife helicopter is currently in service at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.
