Hospice of Southeastern Illinois offers an interdisciplinary team of caregivers that strives to provide the absolute best in end-of-life care. Certified Hospice Volunteers are an integral part of this team.
Hospice volunteers must possess a special kind of caring and a desire to help others. Often times, our volunteers have experienced the loss of a loved-one from terminal illness.
Volunteers help in a variety of ways. Some visit patients’ homes and offer friendship and support during this difficult time. For those who do not feel comfortable visiting with patients, Hospice of Southeastern Illinois can utilize almost any talent, such as cooking, baking, or making crafts. They are also always looking for those who would like to help with activities, such as fund-raising, coordinating special events, and office work.
Hospice of Southeastern provides services to patients in thirteen counties, including Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Edwards, Effingham, Hamilton, Jasper, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, Wayne, and White. Volunteers are needed for all of these areas.
Those interested in becoming volunteers should contact Hospice of Southeastern Illinois at 1-800-375-9343 or 618/392-2745 to find out the next available training date.
