Prepared Childbirth Classes
Prepared Childbirth Classes are designed to better prepare expectant women and their support person(s) for the birth process. Discussions include a review of pregnancy, relaxation exercises, pre-labor signs, onset and stages of labor, comfort measures and labor positions, as well as breastfeeding instruction. Labor interventions, options for pain relief, postpartum care, and the care of the infant are also covered.
All expecting mothers can benefit from attending the classes. We also encourage the support person to attend the classes with you. These classes are most beneficial when taken during the last trimester of pregnancy.
Classes are held in the Carle Richland Memorial Hospital lower level conference room and are facilitated by skilled labor and delivery nurses. There is a $10 fee that covers all of the scheduled classes.
